The terms for using Story Forge and for commissioning creative work from Quartz Ripple.
About these terms
These terms cover the Quartz Ripple website, the Story Forge tool and enquiries you make about creative work. Quartz Ripple is run by Catherine Gomersall in Melbourne, Australia. You can contact Quartz Ripple at catherine@quartzripple.com.
The purchase terms for Story Forge are made available before checkout and are accepted as part of the purchase process. Commissioned projects are also governed by an agreed written proposal that sets out the scope, fees, timetable and usage rights. Project-specific terms apply to that project, subject to rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Story Forge
Story Forge is a DIY creative planning tool for business founders. It helps you explore storytelling language, visual motifs, palettes, art direction and product concepts. Where available, revenue scenarios, market suggestions and distribution ideas are planning aids.
The advertised price is A$27 as a one-off purchase. The price and any applicable tax are clearly displayed before you pay. A purchase does not create a recurring subscription unless a separate subscription offer is expressly presented and accepted.
Your purchase includes one year of access from the date of purchase and a downloadable PDF creative brief. The licence covers use for your own business only. Using Story Forge to provide work for clients requires a separate licence; contact catherine@quartzripple.com to arrange it — pricing and scope are agreed individually. The standard A$27 licence does not cover client work.
Your purchase includes one business workspace, one complete creative brief, and the number of AI refinements and research runs shown before checkout, plus unlimited manual editing, calculator use and export while your access is active.
Purchasing Story Forge does not include commissioned illustrations, product manufacture, printing, fulfilment or personal consulting. Commissioning Quartz Ripple is optional.
Your account and use
You need an account to use Story Forge. You are responsible for keeping your account sign-in details secure and for activity carried out under your account. Accounts are for one person; team or client access requires a separate licence.
You may not reverse engineer the tool, resell access to it, use it to build a competing product, or attempt to breach its security. You may not upload unlawful, infringing, harmful or inappropriate material, or use the tool in ways that breach these terms or applicable laws.
AI-assisted outputs and estimates
Story Forge uses AI to help explore ideas and create draft content based on what you enter. AI content can be inaccurate, generic or incomplete; you review, edit and decide what to use. Story Forge and Quartz Ripple do not promise any particular outcome from AI content, and AI does not replace professional advice, your own judgement or your expertise.
You must not enter personal information about other people (including customers) or confidential third-party information into AI features. Where AI is used, Quartz Ripple does not claim authorship or ownership of AI content beyond the rights needed to provide the service. You are responsible for checking that content you use does not infringe others' rights or make claims you cannot substantiate.
AI features depend on third-party providers, and outputs may vary between requests. Features may change or be withdrawn as providers and technology change.
Your material and intellectual property
You keep the rights to your content: text, images, briefs and other material you upload or create in the tool. You give Quartz Ripple a limited licence to process and store your content as needed to run the tool, provide support and meet legal requirements.
Quartz Ripple retains ownership of the tool, its structure, templates, prompts, guides, example content and any pre-existing materials. Nothing in these terms transfers that ownership to you.
If you commission work, ownership and licence terms for the resulting work are as set out in your project proposal and are confirmed in writing. Until agreed otherwise, intellectual property in commissioned work transfers on full payment; Quartz Ripple may show commissioned work in its portfolio unless you ask otherwise in writing.
Story Forge, Quartz Ripple and associated branding remain the property of Quartz Ripple. You may not use them without written permission.
Commissioned work
Enquiries are not binding on either party. If you commission Quartz Ripple, project details, deliverables, price, deposit and timetable are agreed in a written proposal. If you do not provide materials, feedback or approvals when needed, timelines may shift and additional fees may apply.
Typical terms: payment in Australian dollars, GST excluded and added where applicable; a deposit may be required before work begins; the balance is payable on delivery. Fees may be adjusted for scope changes, agreed in writing.
Usage rights for commissioned work are as set out in your project proposal and confirmed in writing. Quartz Ripple may show commissioned work in its portfolio unless you ask otherwise in writing. Quartz Ripple may reference your project as a client engagement unless you ask otherwise.
Quartz Ripple may decline enquiries that are unlawful, harmful, or inconsistent with its values or capacity, and may refer you to other providers where appropriate.
Prices, deliverables and availability described on the website are indicative and confirmed in your written proposal.
Pricing, refunds and consumer rights
Services shown on the website are by enquiry; a price guide is indicative unless expressly stated otherwise. A written project quote confirms the final scope and price.
Story Forge purchases are not refundable simply because you change your mind.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and other applicable laws are not excluded or limited by these terms. Depending on the problem and applicable law, remedies may include correction, resupply, repair, replacement, cancellation or a refund. Contact catherine@quartzripple.com if you cannot access a purchased tool or believe it has not been supplied as described.
Availability and changes
The tool depends on third-party services and may be unavailable from time to time, including for maintenance, updates or provider outages. Features may change or be withdrawn; significant changes will be noted where practical. Quartz Ripple aims to keep the service available but does not promise uninterrupted availability.
These terms may change. The current version is published on this page with its last updated date. Significant changes will be flagged where practical; continuing to use the website or tool after changes are published means you accept the updated terms. If a change materially affects a purchase you have already made, the terms you accepted at purchase will continue to apply to that purchase for its remaining access period.
Liability and disputes
To the extent permitted by law, Quartz Ripple is not liable for indirect, special or consequential losses, or for lost profit, revenue or opportunity, arising from your use of the website or tool. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant service.
Disputes are handled cooperatively: raise the issue by email to catherine@quartzripple.com and Quartz Ripple will work with you to resolve it. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law are not affected.
